Propane
Founded in 1947 by Lewis Hughes, the full service propane company
has proudly served Harris, Montgomery, Grimes, and Waller Counties
providing customers with quality service for the last 60 years. The
company is still family owned and operated. Over the years, the
Hughes family of companies has expanded to offer natural gas
distribution and utility construction. Currently, Hughes has 25
employees.In
addition to providing quality service, Hughes has an excellent
safety record. Hughes Propane has been the recipient of the Dono Day
Safety Award which presented each year to one propane company in the
State of Texas. Hughes Propane has also received the Ranger
Insurance Company Partners in Safety Award.
Hughes Propane is an
active member of the Community. Chairman Emeritus, Jo Ann Hughes
Mudget has received several awards including the Service Above Self
Award presented by the Tomball Rotary Club and the Small Business
Award from the Business and Industry Council of the North Harris
Montgomery Community College District. In addition, she has served
on the Texas Energy Coordination Council.
The Company is an
active member of the Texas Propane Gas Association (TPGA) and the
National Propane Gas Association (NPGA), organizations that promote
safety and education within the industry. Jo Ann became the first
female President of the TPGA after she had served as a district
representative. Frank Hicks, the company’s president, is currently a
TPGA district representative and regional vice-president. He is also
a member of the NPGA Marketer’s Management Forum.
